is there any chance of anyone making a Java app for this for mobiles like Sony Ericssons ? so it would be remote play like on the Aino ? that'd be awesome. And also, if there were to be a Java app would it cost to use it via the internet ? (standard mobile internet not fancy pancy wifi, My phone doesnt support it:( ) xD

Has anyone used this with Windows 7 x64?
I'm not sure it's actually related to the OS but for some reason this isn't working properly for me. It connects fine, and I even hear the PS3 sounds when I move left or right, but I get no image at all.
PS3 is running 3.01
*edit* Actually, I just tried it on my other PC with Windows XP and I'm having the same problem, no image.
*edit 2* I just realized I had this problem before when I didn't import the keys. But I did import them, so maybe they changed? How do I update them?

@ dash
it's been like 8 weeks since your last status update, so i wanted to ask how's the build coming along?
with the imminent release of the n900, i really wanted to get this running on it and am really hankering to get my mitts on the linux version of this program so i can get that done
you're doing great work, keep it up XD

I have had a PS3 for barely 6 weeks, and borrowed a friend's hacked PSP to try this out. The first time my WinXPpro laptop PC wouldn't bring up a picture and would then time out, so I deleted the pairing on the PS3, and also upgraded the firmware on the PSP to 5.5, and went through the procedure again, and this time it worked... it did crash but I did get to try PlayTV remotely, I was absolutely thrilled. I am running PS3 firmware 3.01.
I'll be trying to build the linux app as that's my preferred platform. I know a few iPhone devs and I'll see if I can persuade them to at least take a quick look at it. I'll also see if I can get it to build to run on my Nokia tablet, but I think codecs might be a problem.
thanks for a great app, I'm very impressed and looking forward to the next release.

Hey guys.
I just say the bounty on the main page and I would be willing to give it a shot. I have a lot of development experience on mac and iphone and if I have a working version of the code I'm sure I could do a port pretty easily (i code for a living).
I downloaded the code hosted on googlecode....is this working with the latest version of the ps3 firmware ? I know it was broken in 2.80 but has it been fixed since ?

Compiling the codes fails on mac os 10.5 with error:

checking for toolkit... configure: error: Please specify at most one toolkit (maybe some are cached in configarg.cache?)

Anyone else had this problem ?

I would like to get in touch with the developer of openRP so that we could get something started with the iPhone port.
To the developer or project owner, please message me through this site.
Thanks !

The build system has been significantly updated as of last week sometime. It now builds (automatically, without the need to edit Makefiles) for Windows (MINGW), and Linux. Early reports suggest that OSX builds almost entirely. I'll have a chance to test the Mac build next week.
I've created a simple Windows build guide for those interested:
http://code.google.com/p/open-rp/wiki/WindowsBuildGuide

Yes! Provided that the source MAC address is spoofed to that of the paired PSP. See the last question here:

Windows - MAC address spoofing.
There's a free tool out there. Looks almost ideal!
http://www.technitium.com/tmac/index.html
Let's you change your XP/Vista/7 MAC address to allow your PC to masquerade as your PSP on the network for OpenRP purposes.
Pros:
It's free
Windows GUI, but also has a command-line :
create a batch script to tweak your NIC and launch OpenRP
tmac -n network_connection_name [-m mac_address / -nm mac_address / -r / -nr ] [-h] [-i ip_address_1[,ip_address_2...] :subnet_mask_1[,subnet_mask_2...] ] [-g gateway_1[,gateway_2...] :metric_1[,metric_2...] ] [-d dns_server_1[,dns_server_2...] ] [-pxy http_proxy_server_address:port ] [-p preset_name] [-s] [-re] [-di] [-rn] [-rl] [-sv] [-ro] [-nta] [-nst] [-f preset_file]
Nice
Shreyas Zare (programmer) is very open about the simplicity of the techniques required.
Looks to be actively maintained. Supports latest OS and service packs.
Cons:
It may not be 'free' i.e. No source code in the download
I've not actually tried it! Could be full of worms for all I know!

I haven't written a guide for Linux yet because it's very simple.
Things you need installed: subversion (SVN) and wget
ORP will run on any kernel version, on any Linux distribution. Though a modern compiler is required, GCC v4.x and fairly new binutils, autoconf, automake.
# svn checkout http://open-rp.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ open-rp
# cd open-rp
# make release
# cd ORP-1.3-SVN-Linux
# ./orpui

Just tried the linux build and getting a few errors even with recently updated svn,wget , gcc v4.3, bintuils, autoconf and automake. Couldn't built it sadly, I can post the log of the error if needed. Mechos that works for everything BUT windows 7. 7 has a security feature that any mac that is spoofed needs to start with "12" unless your psp MAC address starts with a 12 then you're outta luck... but technitium does work on xp and vista and can be spoofed to anything.

I thougght i was doing ok, opened up terminal, typed away what you posted above, but when i reached
# make release
It never said if it actually made it or not, but either way, it did it with errors, at least 2 ![]()
But it still did some thing, but when i typed in
# cd ORP-1.3-SVN-Linux
It said the file didn't exist! (or somesuch)
lol, and i blew my fuse bad when i couldn't get Wget, took me ages to remember it's all case-sensitive in linux, and it's actually all lower-case ![]()

Hrm... Odd. Never seen that before.
It would be a big help if one of you could edit the file packages.d/Makefile, and change the line:
@OS=$(OS) PKGREPO=$(PKGREPO) $(SHELL) ./build.sh to @OS=$(OS) PKGREPO=$(PKGREPO) $(SHELL) -x ./build.sh
Then try running make release again. You'll (hopefully) get more debug output which may explain what's going wrong.

Maybe you can post those errors... are they the same as what Deathsnowy posted above? Sorry about the wget/Wget mix-up!
SVN Snapshots
I've created a simple SVN build farm for Windows and OSX. Every time there is a new SVN revision in trunk, within an hour or so binaries are compiled and posted to the Downloads page. So if you have no interest in modifying/working on ORP and just want to try the latest and greatest, you can try up-to-date SVN builds as they appear.

This is apparently a problem with sourcing. Some shells need '.', others need 'source'. You could try either or both of these:
# SHELL=/bin/bash make release ...or edit packages.d/build.sh and change the line: . $PKG || exit 1 to: source $PKG || exit 1
Offline
./build.sh: 1: source: not found + exit 1 make[1]: *** [.orp-stamp] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/snowy/open-rp/packages.d' make: *** [all] Error 2 snowy@snowy-laptop:~/open-rp$
that happened after changing the
. $PKG || exit 1
to
source &PKG || exit 1
and the first one...

Yup! You did it right...
This is SO weird. You're running bash (which is what I use too), this script should run perfectly! It even works on OSX and Windows.
I did notice one strange thing while comparing your output to mine. First is yours, following is what I see:
+ PACKAGES=00-zlib 01-libpng 02-freetype 03-curl 04-faad2 05-SDL 06-SDL_image 07-SDL_net 08-SDL_ttf 09-ffmpeg 10-openssl 11-wxWidgets + CFLAGS=-I/home/snowy/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/include + LDFLAGS=-L/home/snowy/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/lib + LIBS=/home/snowy/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/lib/libz.a + LIBFIX= + PATCHES= + TARGET= + . 00-zlib .: 1: 00-zlib: not found + PACKAGES='00-zlib 01-libpng 02-freetype 03-curl 04-faad2 05-SDL 06-SDL_image 07-SDL_net 08-SDL_ttf 09-ffmpeg 10-openssl 11-wxWidgets' + for PKG in '$PACKAGES' + CFLAGS=-I/home/darryl/source/rp/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/include + LDFLAGS=-L/home/darryl/source/rp/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/lib + LIBS=/home/darryl/source/rp/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root/lib/libz.a + LIBFIX= + PATCHES= + TARGET= + . 00-zlib ++ CONFIGURE='./configure --prefix=/home/darryl/source/rp/open-rp/packages.d/./work/root'
Note that for some reason I don't see the quoting around PACKAGES= in your output. Nor do we see the start of the for loop. Something is very odd here. You could try explicitly quoting PACKAGES=
change: PACKAGES=$(ls ??-*) to: PACKAGES="$(ls ??-*)"
Also, could you send me the output of these commands?
$ bash --version $ cat /etc/release
