I just got this HDMI to DVI adaptor and I'm trying to use my old 19 inch computer monitor for my PS3. I set my PS3 to the lowest display settings on an alternate HDTV to work with my monitor, however I'm still getting a blank screen. I just read about this HDCP crap and I doubt my monitor has it, am i screwed or is there some cheap/simple way to bypass this?
This is my monitor btw

HDCP is not required or implemented for 480p in most cases. So, if you are set at 480p (Lowest rez, PS3 video settings, not AUTO, or 720p), then it could be the adapter. You need a Dual Link DVI to HDMI adapter, but even then, it's not guaranteed to work.
I had this problem with a DVD player with DVI out, it would not work above 480p with the DVI to HDMI adapter, HDCP was not working with the adapter. Component was fine up to 1080i though. I turned HDCP off (hack) for the player, but the TV still requires it, and it still did not work. It was the ADAPTER, it is a Dual Link, but for some reason, it just did not work above 480p.

Single link DVI is able to transfer 1920 x 1080 resolution vs dual link at 2048 x 1536, but the dual-link uses additional wires, which distributes bitrate per wire, increasing the overall bandwidth. However, few devices that use dual link. Using a dual link cable for single link offers no advantage. DVI does not carry AUDIO either. IF single link works, then fine, but HDCP is still an issue.
