I would do 10gb for Linux at the mo as when the ISO loader comes out and if it needs Linux then you can format your hard drive again.....
Also I would also like help on which Linux to install.

I formated mine to 10 GB for the PS3, because once you have it installed Linux you'll have no need for having Photos, Music, Movies, ect., because you can save and view/listen to them on Linux.

^^^ I dont i was playing full auto 2 today and that took up 2gb on the game utility. So after a while if you own 10 games you may not be able to play them as you have no space to save the game utility.

Game Data Utilities are c.a. 36KB and Game Saves are c.a. 75KB, it would take c.a. 9000 Game Saves and Utilities combined to max out 10GB.

^^^ Well full auto takes up 1750mb no joke.....it says on the back of the box which im looking at in front of me that "Required hard dive spaces: At least 2GB". I post a picture if i can find the back of the box.
Edit: Could not find a picture of the back but i found a link saying that it needs 2gb

Now you can see with a couple of games like full auto 2 that 10gb is not going to last long lol.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'd still go with 10GB for the PS3.

^^^ You can also install data on the hard drive for games like ridge racer 7 to make them run faster. You can do this by going in to options once it install it's 5gb but the game is much quicker and smother.

Installing Linux is a pain in the butt.
hopefully they (hackers) will find a way so that we can partition the size to our likings...

^^^ Yer that would be good you may all ready be able to partition to the size you want if you put the hard drive in a pc and partition it then transfer it to a ps3...

Nice.
but old laptops use ata format doesn't it?
sata hd for the laptops weren't used widely until early last year. ata-6 was most popular, i think some of laptops still use that format.

I didn't mean old as in age, I meant he doesn't use it any more.
